Welcome Center
Family Welcome Center
Busy parents who need that second cup of coffee to start their day will find it in the Welcome Center. They will also find good conversation with other parents in the mornings or at the end of the day as they make the transition from work to home. The center also houses an area for children to play so parents can talk to each other, use the computer or read information on the bulletin board. Parents can also gather or use some of the many parenting information resources that are available in the center.
The Welcome Center is designed to be a place for community parents to gather and exchange all kinds of information. They will find information on yard sales, babysitting, job openings, children's clothing swaps, and information on community self-enrichment and cultural activities that they and their children might enjoy. The center will also be a resource for parents to find mutual support and to develop positive experiences with other parents who also bring their children to Home Ties for daily care.
Strengthening Center
Strengthening Families Center
Area parents, grandparents, and care givers have a new resource center available to assist them in bringing up healthy children. The Home Ties Strengthening Families Center is open to all families in the area. The Center is a warm and welcoming place, accessible to the community where any family member with children up to age 18 can go, not only in times of need, but as a regular part of day-to-day life. Home Ties Strengthening Families Center will serve as a hub within the community where parents and children can gather to connect with each other and to be linked to services they might need to build a solid foundation of parenting and child development. Some of the services provided at the Strengthening Families Center are parent education classes, child development activities, parent-to-parent support groups, assistance in emergencies, employment referrals, health information and referral to programs, activities and services in the community. The goal is to help build families' strengths and abilities. We want parents and children to come together and learn ways to strengthen their parenting styles to support the growth, development and well-being of their children. The center is a place that brings several community resources together in one place, so parents can have a 'one stop shop'.Services are available to all families in the community, free of charge and are designed to be flexible enough to meet the many levels of need for families. Parents and children are invited to visit from 7:00 am 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. For more information, contact us at 304-636-9450. Evening and weekend hours and events will be scheduled in advance. The calendar of events can be found on the Youth Health Service website: www.youth-health.org.
