YHS Receives Grant Funds
Youth Health Service, Inc. is pleased to announce grant funds received for curriculum materials to benefit youth and youth programming in Tucker County through the McCann Family Fund of The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia. Funds, totaling over $5000, donated through a private donor through the Foundation have made it possible for Youth Health Service to purchase Peaceful Alternatives to Tough Situations (PATTS) and SOS Signs of Suicide.
PATTS is a researched, school-based aggression management program designed to help students increase conflict resolution skills, increase the ability to forgive transgressions, and reduce aggressive behaviors. This program is geared toward students in 3rd through 5th grades and Middle through High School. SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program is an evidenced-based, universal, school-based depression awareness and suicide prevention program designed for middle school or high school students.
These curriculum materials, shown in the photo below with the Tucker County Behavioral Health Team, will be used for implementing prevention and treatment programs for children and teens, as appropriate for age, throughout Tucker County. Many thanks to the generosity of the private donor, to Mr. and Mrs. John P. McCann of the McCann Family Fund, and to The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia.
